What is it?

Read by QxMD is a literature surveillance app that lets you stay on top of the medical literature.

This app is ideal for tracking newly published content and for bookmarking articles for reading, reference or sharing.

Setup - Basic Instructions

1) Download the app from the iOS app store or Google Play (free)   There is also an online version, but may not have all the features of the app.

2. Create an Account:

a) enter your profession

b) enter your specialty 

c) enter location

d) enter second or subspecialty if desired

3) Go to Settings - Institutional Access and choose Saint Louis University

4) Choose the journals you want to follow (NEJM, JAMA, Lancet, etc)

When a new article is available from a journal you follow - you will see a red indicated the number of new articles. Click on an article of interest.  If SLU Libraries have the article, it you should pull up the PDF and you can save/annotate the article.

Notifications

Notifications:

  1. Sign into the Read by QxMD app and select the Settings cog 
    • Under App settings - The following settings can be adjusted:
      • Automatic PDF Download
      • Download Finished Notification
    • Attach PDF when Emailing Papers
  2.  Also under app settings: you can change notifications
    •   Email Notifications 
      • ​​​​​​​updates, collections, Journal TOC, Keywords, Most Read.
    • Push Notifications
      • New articles from journals you follow
      • New articles from collections you follow
      • New articles from keywords you follow
      • Landmark new research
      • General notifications
