1. First, try a keyword search in the SLU Libraries Catalog. Keep it simple. A keyword search tries to match the keyword(s) you entered to the title, table of contents or subject in the catalog record.
2. Scan the list of titles for a book that looks relevant to you.
3. Click on the title to see the catalog record for that book.
4. There are clues in the catalog record that will lead you to other relevant books:
- The call number is used to find the book on the shelf but it also tells you what the book is about. Browse by call number in the catalog or in the stacks to find similar books.
- Subject headings are assigned to each book. They are located at the bottom of the catalog record. Click on the subject heading to search by subject. This is different from a keyword search which only searches for the word itself.
