Supplementing our primary manuscript collection is a large number (almost 200) of partial or full printed facsimiles of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, representing a range of texts – devotional, scientific, and literary in a variety of languages – Latin, Greek, and vernacular.
Facsimiles included in this section are deluxe editions which reproduce in as much detail as possible the experience of handling the original manuscript book. They can be requested at the VFL front desk. A number of other facsimile editions are also available in the VFL reference stacks and can be freely consulted in the reading room; many of these are reduced in size, feature only black-and-white images, or only include selected color images.
A complete listing of facsimile editions held by the VFL can be found in the SLU Libraries catalog.
