IEEE Citation Style

Citing in the text:

  • Use sequential numbers enclosed in square brackets within the text for each specific reference. Use this same number for the reference even if it appears multiple times within the text. This number is NOT superscript and does not refer to a footnote. It DOES refer to your reference list at the end of the document. It DOES appear before any punctuation with a space before the bracket.

Citing in the text examples:

Reference List:

  • The list is organized by sequential number as it first appeared in the text. It is NOT organized alphabetically.
  • References should be flushed left, entries should be single spaced, and there should be double space between entries.
  • The number of the reference should be at the left margin and enclosed in brackets
