Mill Creek

18th Century Historic St. Louis Missouri Neighbohood

Welcome!

Welcome to the Saint Louis University brief guide to Mill Creek Valley in St. Louis, Missouri. Mill Creek was an 18th century neighborhood located in the central corridor of St. Louis starting at 20th street going west to Grand Avenue. A dynamic and populous immigrant and predominantly African American neighborhood razed in the late 1950s for urban renewal, displacing over 20,000 residents. Some buildings of the Saint Louis University campus are located in the former Mill Creek neighborhood. Aerial view showing a section of Mill Creek in 1953 pictured below.
