Social Explorer for Census Data

Social Explorer provides an easy to use interface for census information that ranges from current to historic and also provides data access to the American Community Service (ACS) projects. You will need to set up a free account using your @slu.edu email address.

The Reports Tab allows you to generate data in tabular form and that may be exported to Excel if desired. The Excel format enables the data to be imported into statistical analysis software such as SPSS.

Consumer Expenditure Survey
The Bureau of Labor Statistics collects information from American consumers (families and single consumers) on their buying habits (expenditures), income, and characteristics. The strength of the survey is that it allows data users to relate the expenditures and income of consumers to the characteristics of those consumers.
Census Data from the Census Bureau
Demographic, economic and geographic data available from the U.S. Census Bureau. Users can create maps, tables, and other reports using data from the Population Census, Economic Census, Community Survey and Population Estimates Program.
Statistical Abstract of the United States
Provides an overview of statistics collected by the federal government and public and private organizations on social and economic conditions in the United States. Supplies tables of demographic data, industry statistics (divided into sections including agriculture, finance, technology, transportation, and services), labor statistics, and a summary of the latest economic census.
