Open Access Support at SLU

This guide highlights open access agreements between Saint Louis University and publishers.

"Open Access is the free, immediate, online availability of research articles coupled with the rights to use these articles fully in the digital environment. Open Access ensures that anyone can access and use these results—to turn ideas into industries and breakthroughs into better lives." - SPARC

With the Open Access publishing model, the costs are shifted from subscription fees to up-front cost from the authors called Article Processing Charges (APC) or Book Processing Charges (BPC). In order to support SLU researchers, theUniversity Libraries has entered into agreements with publishers to cover the expense of APCs so that our researchers can publisher OA without additional costs. When possible, we also strive to support broader open access through memberships and partnerships that enable free open access publishing for all authors regardless of affiliation.
