ENGL 1900: Library Research Tutorial

Library research tutorial for students in English 1900: Advanced Strategies of Rhetoric & Research at SLU.

Module 4: Finding Sources

In this module, you'll learn how to utilize the SLU Libraries Catalog and SLUth Search Plus in order to find a variety of sources on your research topic. To get the most out of it, review all text, images, and videos and complete the "Researching Your Controversy" activity at the end.

This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Why Not Just Google?

Did you know that only about 4% of online content is accessible via Google?  Most content on the Internet is behind paywalls, including much of the academic content needed for college-level research. In order to access (or "catch") materials in the deep Web, like subscription databases and academic journals, you'll need to use the special access to these materials that you have as a SLU student.
