How to search for a Rare Book in the Library Catalog
Navigate to the Library Catalog from the Pius Library Homepage

Select “Advanced Keyword Search” from the search dropdown

Include “Rare Book Collection” as a title in your search terms



Many books don’t have many (or any) subject fields, so searching using keywords will bring back many more results
Try multiple terms in different languages: many of the book in our collections, especially Early Modern works, are not in English
You can use an asterisk * to truncate search terms
Example: search "herb*" as a keyword:
Modify general catalog searches to limit results to just those in the Rare Book Collection by adding a title search for "Rare Book Collection"
