Logistics

The  Saint Louis University Libraries Archives are open by appointment only Monday-Friday. Please contact us at rbk@slu.edu to make an appointment. As our space being used for classes, researchers, and the occasional tour, appointments allow us to ensure we are able to accommodate your visit.

Rules & Expectations

  • Please wash your hands with soap and water before your visit to remove any dirt and oils on your hands.
  • Keep personal belongings (i.e. bags) separate from the study area. There are cubbies and lockers available in our entry space.
  • Use pencil only. We have pencils available if needed.
  • You may bring in a computer, tablet, phone, camera (no tripod), and/or notepaper.
    • Photography is permitted for personal/research use, provided you do not use flash.
  • No food, drinks, or gum.
  • Leave books on their book supports - please don't pick them up to flip through.
  • Use any tools provided to you such as weights, book supports, and micro-spatulas.
  • Ask someone if you have questions about how to handle a specific item - that's why we're here!
  • We HIGHLY recommend washing your hands afterward — some bindings are made using less-than-great materials and everything in our collections has at least a century's worth of dirt & grime on it.

Parking

Metered public parking is available on Lindell Boulevard for up to two hours. For longer visits, we recommend using the visitor parking in the Laclede Garage at the corner of Grand Boulevard and Laclede Avenue (see information on SLU visitor parking for current rates).
